Executive Coaching

CEOs have shared with me their most urgent challenges:

It can be lonely at the top, but I can help.  Using proven methodologies, I help you to identify solutions to these and many other obstacles.  In the process, you will discover a deeper level of energy and creativity that can help you achieve the success you envision.

Leadership Coaching

The demands on leaders come from all sides. Directives from above, uncooperative peers, staff that seem to lack the skill or will to accomplish what needs to be done.

From the outside, you appear successful, but you feel something is holding you back from achieving the level of leadership of which you know you are capable. Perhaps you received troubling feedback. You may feel burned out, no longer in touch with the best parts of yourself.

I can help. My leadership clients work with me to overcome many challenges, such as:

High Potentials

Many technology and marketing service companies grew so fast, they never had time to consider how to grow their talent.

As a result, talented high potential people often leave, because they don’t see a clear career path.

Those who do get promoted, often lack leadership skills and strategic understanding of the business.  So, when a higher-level leadership position opens, the company sees no internal candidates with the depth or breadth of skills needed.

They then decide to hire from the outside — Which further convinces internal talent that there are no advancement opportunities for them.

For fast-paced, agile companies, it’s often hard to predict when growth opportunities will arise.  This makes it difficult to articulate a specific career path for employees.

But it is still possible to identify people with the ability and desire to grow and to help them to develop for future positions.

I can help you develop a flexible program that will fit your company’s culture and size – And I provide coaching and training to help your high potential employees broaden their scope and develop the skills they need to prepare for higher levels of leadership.

Developing Effective Leadership Teams

Successful organizations have leadership teams with diverse talents and points of view.  They are aligned around a shared vision and work together to achieve mutual goals.

But often leadership teams get mired in personal politics, lack mutual trust, or engage in behavior that undermines success.

Clients often retain me as an outside facilitator for their on- or offsite meetings to help their leadership teams bond together and overcome siloed thinking, engage in conflict respectfully and constructively, and align around culture, vision, mission, and strategy.

Emerging Leaders Training

Organizational culture depends heavily on how leaders at every level manage people.  When leaders manage their teams in alignment with an organization’s positive culture and values, employees become highly committed and engaged.

But most technology and service organizations promote people to managerial positions for their technical and professional skills, not their effectiveness with people.

Without training and left to their own devices, new managers make it up as they go along.  They may:

Many organizations use leadership training as a powerful way to build a positive and consistent organizational culture.  I tailor leadership workshops to resonate with the culture and managerial needs of your organization.

Change Management

It’s been documented that over 70% of change initiatives fail to achieve the expected results.  Decades of data show that how change is experienced by the organization’s people determines the success or failure of any change process.

Through long experience with change, I have learned what works– and what doesn’t work.  I can help you make sure your transformation project is a success.

My clients retain me for:

Employee Engagement

Studies have proven the correlation between employee engagement and organizational performance for decades.  Yet many organizations still struggle with low employee morale, low productivity, and loss of talent.

Here is one example of how things go wrong.  Employee surveys often indicate that communication is an area for improvement.  But what do employees mean when they say they want better communication?  Do you start a newsletter?  Launch an intranet?  Hold quarterly Town Hall meetings?  All these initiatives are helpful, of course.  But they may miss the mark.

Often, if you ask employees what they meant when they said they wanted better communication, they will say they want their managers to tell them what the !@#$ is going on.

For this to happen, their managers must know what’s going on.  But too often, managers will reply, “I don’t know, nobody around here tells me anything.”  This, of course, is damaging to the employees’ view of the company.  And it also undermines employees’ faith in their manager, since they have little power to make things better.

There are many other such examples.

I help you to understand the real drivers of employee engagement in your organization, so you can develop action plans that will have the greatest impact to inspire employee commitment and make your company into a truly high-performance organization.
